Hello All,

I remember I bought a few modules that beside the module, power cable and rack screws came along with a lollipop, if I remember well a Chupa Chups lollipop. Problem is I am not 100% sure for which brand was this. Was/is that Intellijel?

However recently I bought an Intellijel module and that did not came along with a lollipop, so I am hesitating now. I hope your memory serves me better than mine? :-) Or perhaps Intellijel (if it was them) stopped providing lollipops with their modules?

Feedback on which (most likely North American) brand module came (or still does come) with a (Chupa Chups) lollipop is very welcome! Thank you very much in advance and kind regards, Garfield.

Edit: Removed typo and little update.

Hi Lugia,

Ha, ha, yes a Faraday shield under the floor is something that definitely might help :-) Keeps everything else off from that area :-)

Perhaps indeed a transformer that separates the power from the power supply is the best solution if you have unbalanced power, isn't it?

Well, I feel sorry for you and everyone else who lives in an area where only unbalanced power is available :-( I guess you might get used to it, but it gives you a bit more struggle to keep things nicely and especially easily grounded.

Do you know by any chance if the power is unbalanced in Canada too? Thank you and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Baltergeist,

That's a lovely short track. I had the feeling I was walking somewhere in a forest, listening to birds, natural sounds, just so natural and so relaxing. Pity the track is so short, well I solve that problem by pressing the play button again ;-)

Thank you very much for sharing this with us and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Lugia,

Hmm interesting and weird at the same time :-) I wasn't aware of that there seems to be a difference in the powering system (electricity I mean here) between let's simplify this to European (balanced?) system and the North American (unbalanced?) system. Is this applicable to Canada as well? I am asking since there is perhaps a very small chance that I might consider to move to Canada, but this unbalanced power thing might keep me away from doing so, sounds pretty bad to me and sorry to hear that you "suffer" from an unbalanced system. It seriously doesn't sound good to me, one must be able to rely on a good and properly grounded (electrical) system, in my humble opinion.

Though I have studied electricity circuits, I can't say I ever came across this balanced and unbalanced difference :-( Now that has been almost 30 years ago and professionally I haven't done much with that what I learned about that study, still I think I should call that educational institution and ask my money back ;-)

But here in Europe, at least those countries I know and I am aware of, we use here for most of the electricity "power connections" the 3-wire system. Same for most South-East Asian countries where I have lived too (afaik). One ground wire usually coded as yellow/green wire. Then you have a brown wire (we call it the phase wire; one of the three phases of which 3-phase AC electricity connection in the house from the "street connection" has been used from) that's as you called the hot wire, or simply the AC wire and we have a blue wire that's the zero or null wire, is that your neutral wire then? So to me it sounds pretty much the same as what you have in the USA? The ground wire is connected with a quite thick copper or nowadays even thicker aluminium (since that's cheaper than copper) metal bar that has been drilled or hammered down into the ground under or next to the house, to make sure you have a good "ground to the earth".

There is for small electrical devices, a two-wire system as well, then you only have a brown wire for the (AC) phase and a blue wire for the zero wire, there is no ground wire then. Most systems (critical but even less critical systems, for example, computers, audio devices, or whatsoever) usually use 3-wire plugs though and for those few small devices that don't have the ground then it is usually not too critical that it doesn't have the ground.

Now if I remember my electricity study well, it's highly forbidden (at least here in Europe from a safety and an electricity installation point of view) to have more than one ground, you must make sure when you do an electricity installation in a building that the ground is every where "the same" so to speak. Are you saying that you have more than one ground? Each electric circuit has it's "own" ground? If your answer to that is yes, then that seriously sucks ;-) If your answer to that is no, then I don't understand it at all ;-) Because then you have one ground as well and then it shouldn't be an issue.

If one connects all ground wires of all the electric circuits to that ground that leads into the earth (which is usually the case very nearby or even in the circuitry board/casing), i.e. the real "ground" or earth or whatever one likes to call it, then one shouldn't have any issues. But do I understand this correctly that you don't have a "real" ground in the USA (and perhaps in Canada)? Then how are you ever going to have a grounded system? To me that sounds like pretty dangerous too?

Interesting matter but extremely close to unbelievable as well, at least here from sitting in Europe point of view ;-)

By the way, you wrote this about the electrical system here in Europe: "There's no "neutral", but instead you have two legs at 1/2 of the total mains voltage that are referenced to ground, which gives you the proper 230V for the device in question."

That's however not correct, please refer to my above-explained 3-wire system we use here in Europe. We have the full 230 V on that phase wire as we call it (the brown wire) and then a zero or null wire (blue). Beside that, the ground wire (yellow/green). So there are no two wires that each provide half of the 230 V, that doesn't exist here, it wouldn't be AC then, it would than be rather DC.

Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Zuggamasta,

Nice to see you at work again in your latest video :-) I thought you considered to buy a second case, did you do that already or not yet? I see now two rows, isn't it, I remember before you just had one row?

Hi Brett,

Nice to hear from you again, that has been awhile! He, he, listening at your track it sounds that you had a lot of fun! :-)

Hello YunYun,

Nice to hear from you again, this is a great and beautiful track. Well done! Lovely to listen at your track, I just hit the play button again, can't stop listening at it :-) Ha, ha, I love those kilos of reverb at the end of your track :-D

I am sorry to hear that you are stopping with producing music, after such great track and then leave us in the dark :-( May I hope on your return soon? :-) Or was it perhaps a typo that you wrote "My last patch..." and did you meant to write "My latest patch...", hopefully it's a typo? ;-)

Good luck and I hope to hear somehow from you in the (near) future again, kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Lugia, and Oldan,

Why not simply use the ground of your house's electric circuits? If that one has been done properly (since about the '60s or '70s that should have been done properly), I actually don't see an issue here. It wonders me actually that it happened at all... perhaps some issue with the electricity wiring within the house/apartment? It might be worth testing the ground within the building since this seems a pretty important matter to me... unless I am missing here something?

Kind regards and good luck with the troubleshooting, Garfield.

Hi Systasis,

Great, thanks a lot for the details and the rack overview, looks great to me :-)

How do you like the Filter 8 from Joranalogue? I don't have any modules from this brand and I was thinking of perhaps that Filter 8 or another module from them, is it worth the investment?

3 am and I still want to work on a review report... Thank you, good night too ;-) Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi ModLifeCrisis,

Ha, ha, I love your videos, especially those introduction videos where you provide us first with a great introduction and then some cool sounds. Both video is funny and great and then those old Roland sounds, wow, to die for! Seriously nice to listen at :-)

Hi Systasis,

Oh wow! This is something special. I am almost kind of speechless, that great :-) Did you manage to do this by modular only or did you had help from some external devices/instruments? Either way, very impressive!

I am going for the 2nd track of your album, starts impressive too, can't wait for the rest of your album, though I am afraid I have to wait till tomorrow since it's getting here not too far off from 5 am and I still want to catch some sleep ;-) Already now at the 3rd track, can't leave this, I must hear more, less sleep then but this is great! :-)

Thank you very much for sharing such a beautiful music with us and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Wishbonebrewery,

Wow, yes! A jam that's longer than two hours, you certainly got qualified for the 17+ minute rule from Troux ;-)

Though I haven't listen at the entire 2+ hours, I have listen here and there quite a bit of it and I can hear your happiness while being busy :-) I sometimes also experience that you just can't stop, it's just too much fun to continue

He, he, I like those voice-samples you are using around 1h9m and 1h10m, fits great and gives a nice touch and variation to your track.

Thanks a lot for sharing this with us and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Michael and Moderator,

Michael: I am usually a very patient person however I do enormously hate spam as in such extend that I do think jail sentence should be put onto it, worldwide, to solve the ever spam problem. But let's not get started politically, that's not wanted on this forum :-) (same goes by the way for spam that's also not wanted on this forum, hence this discussion)

So you ask me to be patience, for what? I am still patiently waiting for your explanation how your link is related with modular synthesizers, though I am patient about it, I still would like to know it :-)

Moderator: If we wait a bit patiently about an answer and then either don't hear the explanation how this link is related to modular synthesizers and/or this is still related to spam, I still would like to vote for having Michael removed from this forum.

Both: Thank you very much and kind regards, Garfield.

Edit: Removed typo.

Hi Wishbonebrewery,

He, he, an interesting experimental jam! :-) I like the way you are going around 16:00 with that sequence and those kind of sample-voices on the background as well. Intriguing stuff you made here!

Yes, that's fun isn't it? Modulating the modulators/modulation? :-) I love to do that too.

He, he, and it is nice to see your cat again around 21:40+ :-) Was it trying to modulate even a bit more than you wanted? ;-) At about 26:10 it tries to change a few patch cables with its tail ;-) Nice finish of the track at the end, by the way.

Thanks a lot for sharing this with us and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Lugia,

Finally something cheaper here in Europe than in North America ;-) It's usually the other way around...

Are you going to visit the Superbooth? If yes, you could during your visit buy a few of those DC filters from Lehle.

Kind regards, Garfield.

Hello Lugia,

Thank you very much for replying with so many details and methods :-) I think I go for method #2, the Lehle DC Filter. It seems that this is a stereo filter, so instead of a pair of these Lehle filters, one Lehle DC filter should be enough if the description of this filter is correct. I checked two online stores here (in Germany) who sell this at 35 bucks by the way and both claim this is a stereo filter. Pity it doesn't has two separate inputs and outputs :-( Perhaps still getting a pair of it.

Thank you very much and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Lugia,

Oh wow, that sounds indeed much better than expected and indeed lucky that the brightness of the LEDs can be turned down without the eyes are being burned out by the bright LEDs ;-) I actually miss that LED brightness functionality on those Eurorack modules that use LEDs (or lights). By "Eurorack law" actually every module with LEDs/lights should have a small dimmer knob to lower down the brightness of LEDs (or lights) or even dim it so far that's just off. I sometimes like to have the LED lights but I usually like to have it pretty dim indeed.

I can't wait for the Blue Marvin, though I agree with you that the copy/paste behaviour (of existing currently available models) is one of disgusting :-(

So the B. 2600 can be used without any worries of getting any DC components to the speakers? Have you tested that already some way? I wouldn't like to fry my just acquired new monitors :-(

Thanks a lot for sharing your feedback on the B. 2600 and kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Wedoh,

Oh come on, you must be joking! This "Drifting through Space" is topping everything about space here ;-) Clicking for the 2nd time the play button. I got stuck on earthlings-date 03-07-2021 on planet Ioptraly 7Y5, that's considered still within the inner-hyper-space zone, hence the 3-alpha-digit code behind the planet. I wasn't able to leave Ioptraly 7Y5, your music was good enough to get me there but so far I never made it to go much further...

I am saying this because here in the inner-hyper-space zone Ioptraly 7Y5 is rather known (I didn't know that when I just arrived on the 3rd of July earthy year 2021) as a famous transit planet to go to the intermediate-hyper-space zone. You need something seriously strong to be able to do that, never managed to do that just yet. However now listening to your "Drifting through Space" that seems to be just that what I needed to go to the intermediate-hyper-space zone, what an experience!

I will tell you upfront (kind of spoiler), this is seriously scary, never experienced this before and I would say I am kind of intermediate experienced with hyper space travelling ;-) This intermediate-hyper-space zone where I am now... that's seriously scary. I am travelling for how long now already? Need to Zopple to see how long in earthly understandings... give me a minute...

Ah yes, what we called light years, I have travelled around 785 million light years now and... seriously never seen this, all the way through this distance/time I haven't seen a thing. Nothing, seriously nothing, this is scary! Normally you use to see a few stars or a planet if you are lucky but at least something, but here is just nothing, nothing at all and that for such a long distance/time!

Time is disappearing here too. Here on earth this message would take me hours to write, here in intermediate-hyper-space zone it's a matter of a few micro seconds or something. Yo.. d.dn t not.c. ye th.t th. Int.rn.t c.nn.ct..n is dr.pp.ng?

Hi Bleepadelic,

That is a great track, beautifully done.

I am sorry to hear about your capital. If one is suppressed by militarisation then besides writing (that might be politically difficult and one might be easily "militarised" too :-( ) making music is indeed a great way of expressing your feelings or the stress that has to come out by the suppression.

I do think your track does translates this well and I hope through music you can feel some enlightenment and find trust and confidence for yourself in the future. Kind regards, Garfield.

Hi Wedoh,

Oh yes, you managed it, finally someone that managed to get me hyper spaced again. Wow, what a nice track! 6 minutes is the only negative thing I can find about this great track, this should have been 30 or 60 minutes! :-)

The last time I was hyper spaced here was by Troux on the 25th of January this earth year 2021, it took me a while to come back to earth, but having been far too long on earth, I have to thank you, Wedoh, on my bare knees, finally back into hyperspace ;-) Just arrived on planet Ioptraly 7Y5 (translated by Zopple), weird planet though, but hey, that's all part of this hyper space travelling, isn't it?

Ah come on, again your track just finished, going to press for the third time the play button, let's see if it can take me a bit further than Ioptraly 7Y5... in case you don't hear from me any more for a while... well that's because Wedoh's music took me too far away from planet Earth, no more Internet connection I am afraid...

Thank you very much Wedoh, hope to see you soon in hyperspace too ;-) Kind regards, Garfield.

P.S.: Don't forget to bring your hand towel!

Hi Oldan,

Not sure where the issue is? I don't see it to be honest, as you mentioned already:

Their website states that "This case has integrated Erica Synths PSU capable of 1.25A per rail (2.5A total)."

And then you checked your PSU (good by the way to check!) and you found this:

OUT ±12VDC / 1250mA (thus -12 V at 1250 mA = 1.25 A and +12 V at 1250 mA = 1.25 A, together 2.5 A; I assume, unless the manual of that PSU says differently)

So that's the same, isn't it, so... where do you see an issue? Did you bought this Erica Synths case new from Erica Synths or an authorised Erica Synths dealer? If yes, then this should be fine.

You could start with one module, then two, etcetera, in case you are still not sure but I don't see an issue.

Have fun with modular and kind regards, Garfield.
