Those of you who have the Mannequins W/ and are unaware of this just like I was: there's a totally new beta fw out there which transforms the module into something completely different: there are 3 different engines - W/Tape (most of the original tape functions are available), W/Syn (a polyphonic 2-op, 4-voice FM synth) and W/Del (vari-speed delay+looper with modulation).
I, for one like the new engines a lot better than the original (and very obscure) tape engine, though I have yet to figure W/Tape out as I couldn't get it work (I may have a corrupted micro SD card or do something wrong...). However, both W/Syn and W/Del are amazing and seem to work as described. The delay is very lo-fi and sounds crazier, in a very good way, than any delay I've worked with before. The FM-synth is also pretty wild and harsh, noisy and metallic, I like it a lot. Now W/, so far used intermittently, has become so much more than it originally was.

Here's where you'll find the fw and all the info:

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
About the film used for the video: I found it on archive.org and I was both amazed and disturbed by the images. Back in the ‘50s knife throwing was a widely accepted attraction and this woman, Louella Gallegher (not my mother :) ) was one of the better known knife throwers. Using your children at the throwing board was kind of normal back then. The kids were raised with knives flying and hitting the board around them. Imagine this happening today. Totally horrendous. I thought this patch was as disturbing and unrestful as the knife throwing mother. And the nuns overlooking the whole thing among the teenagers, kind of out of this world and still, so much a part of it.

Hey @troux and all,

Excellent idea and I'm humbled to be included on the list. I wasn't near the forum for some days but now I'm back and if it's not too late I’d be honored to have one of my tracks in the compilation. I put three tracks in this folder, hope one of them may be OK to go.

Here's a "sister-patch" which I named "an ode to Blixa" (because I can picture Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten doing some vocals for this, in German, of course). Again, all the voices come from the Just Friends. Some more patch details in the video description.
Also, lovers of custom panels may observe three panels made by Chora Panels, all in the top row.

I stumbled upon Exploding Shed when I was looking for black panels for my MATHS and Erbe-Verb and I found some panels by Chora, a maker/designer I'd never heard of. Not a single panel Chora makes was (and is) in stock, but then I found the guy online and now some esoteric MATHS & Erbe black panels are in the making (and also one for MI Yarns). Guess I owe ES a big thank you.

This is a drone piece based on four voices generated by the Disting Ex quad VCO algo (well, the dual VCO algo loaded in both dual-mode slots). Visually speaking this is not a demo but a hybrid, which I call, rather pompously :), a modularT piece, because of the various film clips I used in the video. Don't know, it may be the lockdown that brought me to this. Patch details in the video description.

The new firmware (1.5) for the Disting Ex comes with a new dual mode algo, the dual wavetable vco. I loaded it in both dual mode slots and ended up recording this 4-voice polyphonic patch. The 5th voice is the Instruo Ts-L. Details in the video.

@Lugia & @troux , thanks for your feedback and kind words.

Re spaghetti-related debris, I hear you Lugia. Sometimes I end up growing a jungle on my rack. Those are not my best patches :) These days I try to focus on a few selected modules in a given patch and get the best out of them. And, on a sidenote, I hate cables and cords - the primary reason I'd stayed away from modular synthesis for years. Then the 0-Coast came along and I was soon lost :)
troux - visited your bandcamp page and really love your music (listening to live sets as I'm typing this).

Hey Garfield,
The Mimeophon is my nr 1 fx module (a close 2nd is the Erbe-Verb). This is a very organic-sounding delay and also a reverb, because it has quite nice reverberation capabilities. In some settings the Mimeophon granularish sounds can also be achieved. I like how well the Mimeophon blends with the rest of my setup. Also, every parameter can be CV-modded and thus whole new sounds can be had. It is definitely a keeper. I like the Mimeophon as it is, can’t think of anything that’s missing. All in all, it’s a deep module and I I find it’s also very musical and inspirational. Quite pricey too, but for me it was well worth the $$$.
Cheers, Gabor

Hi Garfield,
Thanks for your feedback. The only fx module in this patch was the Mimeophon. Right now I'm experimenting with sending drums and percussion thru Athru and I am, again, blown away. Will record some more decent footage asap.
Cheers, G

My new favourite module manufacturer is Instruo. Just received the Athru wave folder and I'm blown away by how awesome this module is (I also have the Céis EG + Ochd in my rack, Ts-L and Vinca will be added soon). This piece is a short, drony improvisation with Benjolin and Noisewasp (4ms Noise Swash clone) running thru Athru. More details in the video description.
(It was only after recording the video that I noticed that Athru is barely visible - sorry about that. Will do a more demo-like something later.)

re @boombipbass ... I never had any transaction or interaction whatsoever with this member but just saw that I got thumbs down from him. WTF???!! I messaged him just a minute ago asking why the hell but now I see it's unlikely that I'll get any reply from him.

Update: days later he did reply and removed the thumbs down.
