N-030 Noise/Random

Noise/Random Source module

From the top down:
rate knob + CV in jack
button + LEDs (short press= 1/2/5ms geiger out selection, long press = slow filter selection, very long press = binary/stepped filtered out selection)
geiger out jack + LED
binary mode indication LED
filter knob + out jack + LEDs
binary output jack + LEDs

N-030 is pseudorandom digital noise source/random source. Rate of random values generated is set by knob or by CV input, rate of generating new random values is 0,5Hz to 20kHz. If a there something plugged into CV jack, then knob becomes an attenuator for the CV.
Geiger output density depends on the rate set and is approx. 1/130 of rate set in average. Approx. 150 trigs per second are generated at fastest rate in average, slowest rate average period is 3 minutes (but it is long term average, geiger trigs are spaced unevenly of course so space between trigs can be 10 seconds or 20 minutes or so). Geiger output trigs can be 1ms, 2ms or 5ms long. Their length is set by short push on the mode selection button; the LED (off/half brightness/on) indicates the selected length. Geiger output trigs are 0V/5V.

Filter range (low pass filter) for the filtered output can be set to “fast filter” (SLOW FILT LED is off) or “slow filter” (SLOW FILT LED is on). Press and hold mode selection button for a few seconds to change the mode (mnemo: underlined).

The filtered output can be taken from either a multilevel stepped voltage (quantized voltage steps, BINARY LED is off) or from binary values (binary 0/1, BINARY LED is on). The mode selection button must be held for about 10 seconds to change the source between the stepped voltage or the binary source. The filtered output range is -5V/+5V. The Filter knob sets the glide time between stepped voltages or between +5V/-5V binary states. If the Filter range is set to Fast, it decreases the high frequency content of the noise, and can possibly reduce the overall output voltage range.

Binary output can be set to 0V/5V output (internal jumper header removed) or to -5V/+5V (jumper header set).
