Dual LFO with unique intermodulation capabilities

uLoafs is a dual lfo with unique intermodulation capabilities. Fundamentally, it’s two solid lfos with a variety of usable waveshapes. The triangle and square waves can be morphed into ramps and pulses with the SKEW control. And the three way rate switch allows a frequency range of approximately .04Hz (25 seconds) to 100Hz.

What sets this module apart though is the PSEUDO SYNC knob. It controls the amount that the top lfo is imperfectly injected into the core of the bottom lfo. At small levels of PS, the bottom lfo will speed up or slow down depending on whether the top lfo’s triangle is positive or negative. As you start to increase the amount of PS, the bottom lfo increasingly tries (and fails) to latch on to the top lfo. The interplay between modulating the frequency while simultaneously attempting to sync makes PS a chaotic feature that is highly reactive. Small knob changes can send you into whole new territory. And while there is some amount of randomness, the patterns always tend towards looping.

Notice that the bottom LFO has a CLK output. This is 0-6V square that is also affected by the PS. You can get some really cool swinging and off-beat clocks from this. Any simple sequencer patterns becomes instantly more interesting with the uLoaf clock driving it. And to take things a step further, the CVin of the top lfo is basically just pseudo sync that allows you to add whatever you want to the core. Try sticking some external (attenuated) clocks or envelopes in to sync the whole module to something else. The greater the amplitude of the signal at the CVin, the more this input acts as a dumb gate that turns the LFO on and off.

Pseudo sync is an attenuverter and “off” at its middle position
performative ON/OFF switch for pseudo sync feature
Rate range 20+ seconds to 100Hz.
outputs are approximately +/-3V (6Vpp)
CLK output is 0-6V square
TRI (INV) is an inverted copy of the triangle wave
outputs under pseudo sync are wacky and can reach as much as +/-6V
