A Melodic Voltage Source
This is Extraordinary Instruments' Precision Melodic Voltage Source which provides discrete voltages in melodic increments for switching in and out components for altering the component notes of three-note chords when used with a precision voltage adder and voltage controlled switches.
This module was designed for use with Toppobrillo's Quantimator which provides three quantised outputs: the root note, the third note, and the fifth.
The purpose of this module is to allow the user the ability to alter the Quantimator's triadic chord shapes performatively with just seven buttons -- using two precision voltage adders, two voltage controlled switches, and a latching voltage/gate switch -- rather than having to accurately create the precise voltages required to select one of the Quantimator's 39 scale and chord functions, which would otherwise provide the same functionality, but without the intuitive immediacy for musically improvising chord structures and inversions.
By altering the third note of a triad with the supplied voltage, one has immediate access to minor, major and sus4 chords, and by altering the fifth note of the triad with the supplied voltages, one has access to augmented, diminished, (minor) 7th, and maj7th chords -- as long as the root note is held by another melodic line for four note chord shapes.
