12/18/24 dB Low Pass Filter & VCA

A low pass filter with two inputs for signals and four simultaneous outputs. Three outputs are the different slope filter and the fourth output is for the VCA. The unit is generally trimmed for one signal in input, while with two inputs the filter input is a bit saturated. This setting is useful to experiment with differents configurations. However you can adjust this setting with the proper trimmer on the side of the unit.

Cutoff of the filter can be adjusted with the big potentiometer or by CV (the 'CVC' input). The range is very wide, so you can experiment with various positions of the knob.

Resonance is controlled with the proper potentiometer (labeled 'Res.') or by CV (the 'CVR' input). A three position switch (positioned at the center of the unit) is used to select the mode of the filter: in the center position the filter behaves like a clean filter without resonance, so in this case the resonance controls have no effect, in position F.I the normal feedback path allows for the standard resonance while in position F.II a different feedback path allows for more screaming at higher settings (the path is saturated). 'CVC' and 'CVR' labeled inputs have their own level potentiometer.

A 1 V/O input is present, 10 Vpp covers the full range.

The 18 dB output is shifted by 180 degree in phase compared to the other outputs, by means of a jumper on the backside this can be changed. Experiment!

It's not all: the VCA section is controlled by the curve selector switch (linear or exponential) on the left and by the three position switch on the right (12/18/24 dB). The switch on the right of the unit decides what of the filter output is directed to the VCA section. The potentiometer labeled 'Amp.' is used for the bias, while the 'CVA' input is for CV able to control the amplification. This CV has its own level potentiometer.

A beatiful aluminum panel with silver finish and an interface easy to understand make XTr3tone a classic low pass filter with a plus: multiple outputs with different slopes and an integrated VCA.
