quick question about "Comments won't work on private Racks."

this prevents adding (private) notes on private racks.
not the end of the world but I did found it useful...
any chance to have it back?

Sometimes "improvements" do the opposite thing and do not work for everyone.
In favor of the new streamlined comment function the private comment feature is gone, sorry.
It will only come back if I am forced by a wave of angry MG protesters.
Until this happens consider to flag your rack as public and maybe share the enjoyment of your planning with some other users.

So I frequently use modulargrid on my phone, but have noticed a pretty important flaw: not being able to delete modules. If I poke the delete button it just moves the module and it makes things go all sorts of whacked out. Maybe I'm just being picky, but is there a way to fix that for mobile? Or will I have to continue just dragging them off to the side until i can get to a computer?

Oooh, idea: mobile app?

So I frequently use modulargrid on my phone

What kind of phone are you using?

Oooh, idea: mobile app?

There will be no dedicated native mobile app. I try to make sure that MG runs in most mobile browsers, therefore your bug report is greatly appreciated.

Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net

I'm on the Samsung Note 3, figured with the pen and all there wouldn't be that issue, but alas... I'm using the mobile version of Chrome, by the way.

I figured there wouldn't be a mobile app, and besides the delete problem its been working great!

O.k. that's an Android phone I guess. Sadly I don't have access to one and the simulators don't work with the touch stuff. I will try to borrow one and look into it.

Yo, Knut!

The Update=>Screenshot function is no longer working.

I keep getting the message "Image not found," and the error:

Error: The requested address '/img/racks/modulargrid_??????.jpg' was not found on this server.

The Command Center => Update Screenshot Preview is also malfunctioning.

Something screwy with CakePHP?

Thanks for reporting!

Screenshots are generated by a "headless XServer".
This Mofo likes to crash every once in a while, it's a bug since day one.
My professional solution so far is the IT Crowd approach: switch it off and on again.
There you go, works again :)

For those of you who experienced problems:
TrueGrid is working again.

In sketch a patch: When i choose to sketch a patch, it seems to use an old, outdated (cached?) version of my rack, which i dont seem to have a way of changing.

EDIT: Nevermind, reading the SaP FAQ solved my problem. All is whale, remain clam :D

I can't seem to duplicate my rack anymore.
Currently I have 7 rows, I am somehow not allowed to have more than 4 all of a sudden.
When I try to edit my rack, it sets itself to 4 rows automatically now...

Anyone else has this problem?

Ah, bollocks, unicorn...
I don't know. I just need one rack duplicated once for possible changes from time to time.
I'll probably leave it as it is...
It's a good job you're doing and I would be glad to honour it financially but I really don't need all those huge values for 20$ a year. I just want to keep my extra rows. Maybe you should introduce something in between.

I have a similar problem - when trying to duplicate or rename a rack that has five (5) rows, I get a message saying that I can't because tha rack has to have between one (1) and four (4) rows.

...they introduced a version of Modular Grid for which you'd have to pay if you want your rack to have more than 4 rows. It's called unicorn and you can find exact information somewhere on this site. Old racks with more than 4 rows stay as they are (they won't be erased) you just can't duplicate them anymore.

Ok thanks!

BUG REPORT: "PRIVATE" MODULES

Modules tagged as "private" are visible to anyone. If the tag is not meant to mean "this is hidden from anyone but the module's creator", this should be made clear, otherwise that's a bug that should be fixed.

The issue came up here: http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1747830#1747830

It's also not clear (at least to me) why "private" and "duplicate" are combined into one tag.

It is not a bug but an intended function. Private modules are just excluded from the module browser, but they are accessible if you know the URL. Same function exists on other sharing sites like YouTube too.
I see I failed miserable to make this clear and will improve the description text in the upload form.

In the ModularGrid way the duplicate tag has the same purpose as the private tag.
They just should exclude modules from the module browser and search engine.
But you are still be able to add them to your racks if you like.
ModularGrid wasn't made on one day so a lot of inconsistencies from new features sneak into the system.
I try to iron them out over time, sorry for your inconvenience ...

Sorry, that info in the form never registered with me.
So "private" is what YouTube calls "unlisted", I see.

No worries, we all appreciate your work very much.

-- ApolaKipso

To make it clearer that there is no real module privacy on ModularGrid

  • I have changed the Module private tag to unlisted
  • I have put on a red alert text in the upload form
  • I have changed the Fieldset name from Privacy to Module Listing

Thanks for your feedback! I always need user input to improve things.
Best Knut

I cannot get a screenshot created when trying to make a patch.

"Error: The requested address '/img/patches/modulargrid_11289.jpg' was not found on this server."

"Something does not work as expected ...
Could not load screenshot."

I cannot get a screenshot created when trying to make a patch.

This should be fixed (for now). Thanks for reporting.

It works indeed. Thanks for the speedy fix!

In the mobile version (iOS, iPhone 5c) the price and text description are sometimes obscured by the tags. This can differ depending on landscape or portrait view.

i can not see patches on iPad/iphone which are on racks bigger than 5 rows. ?
thanks for looking
great application btw.
Christoph

The currency for module prices seems to default automagically to USD, despite having EUR set on the user profile.
This happens quite erratically, without any particular defined pattern. Not a big thing, but you know...
Keep up the amazing work Knut!
Grüße!

That is an iOS Bug, as far as I can see.

This Bug is known and already on my list. I thought nobody will notice that. But now I have to look into it, damn.
Also the conversion calculation is way off. It uses a hardcoded constant from times, when the Euro actually was worth anything...

This bug bothers me as well.
Can i suggest to completely skip any currency conversions and just have $ and € MRSP entered manually?

Even with a real-time conversion using the latest exchange rates the prices will be off.
Especially with US modules in EU, rule of thumb is 1 to 1 conversion from $ to €.
In US modules are advertised without VAT, in Europe with VAT, add shipping and import taxes and you end up with a module listed for 299$ sold in Europe for 299€.

Actually you can do that right now.
Currency conversion is just the fallback if only one value is entered.
I need the currency conversion to get at least halfway usable results for the calculation of total rack cost.
Btw.: Converted currencies have the ≈ sign prepended and are blue, while manually entered values are black.

On my mobile device, I can't load patches. If I do, it'd after google chrome crashes 5+ times and freezes up, etc. Is this a bug, or are patches not supposed to load on phones?

Sorry, I think this is a bug in the mobile browser. I discovered it at least on iOS devices. But it should affect only larger racks ...

Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net

Oh, I have an android. Idk if that helps...but it's some kind of info!

Frequently bugging out when dragging modules about.

error

Also frequently "forgetting" module placement and reverting to an earlier layout.

Chrome, Win7.

Cheers

On Chrome, Win7 as well. Also have forgetting module placement errors / reverts. Also, placing new module will sometimes place it on top of another already placed module and occasional "clean up the mess" when there is no mess. Silly kitteh.

Module name searches should probably be accent-insensitive.

For instance, when I search for "magnetosphere", I would expect to see https://www.modulargrid.net/e/eowave-magnetosphere.

First, thanks for making this awesome site. I love it!

One question: my password got sent to me by email in cleartext. I hope that doesn't imply that my password is stored on the server in cleartext?

No, passwords are hashed and salted.

Sorry false alarm. I did not get an email with my plaintext password. I got confused with another modular synth forum that joined around the same time.

Hola,
This has reared its ugly head again with Sapel.
Someone posted this dupe https://www.modulargrid.net/e/frap-tools-sapel--

There seems to be a bug in the module search form.
When you search for modules available in a particular marketplace, the "Secondary Function" field is ignored. Or rather even more complicated, only one of the "Function" fields work.

In Chrome 68.0.3440.106 I find that if I'm in a rack view and click on any module, keystrokes are no longer accepted by the browser window. Can't reply to posts, can't hit F5 to refresh, can't hit F12 to bring up the dev console.

It's a kind of a bug. It happens when the mouse hovers over the rack. Move the mouse away from the rack and the keyboard will work again as expected.

Gotya - thanks.

I still get all the module shops / offers in the "Buy Online"-bar from Canada, US and Japan despite being in EU.

Tried wiping the browser cookies and cache clean, switching the currency to € and listing the offers only from EU and cross-checking with another browser and in private mode, but this behaviour persists. My VPN is set to EU as well so it shouldn't mess with geolocation if there's such. Also tried completely turning off VPN to see if it affects the functionality.

Is there a setting somewhere or is this a bug am seeing here?

I am not sure what's going on, I never heard of this problems. But I agree there should be a simple option to set the location, so this feature will come.

I use a lite app shell called Hermit for this (and many other sites) it works really well and allows you to have a couple sites as lite apps before you have to purchase a license.

The entire FORUMS.

When sorting by the latest post, the results aren't so. I'm expecting to see the thread with the newest post at the top, followed by the second newest, third, etc. It seems almost random. Is it being sorted by the latest VIEWED rather than posted? It should be fixed right away as new forum messages and replies are getting buried by older posts.
