Bel BF-20-500 Stereo Flanger

Stereo Flanger

Designed by Bel founder and ex-Genesis guitarist, Mick Barnard, and first released in the late 1970s, the original rackmount BF-20 quickly became the “flanger of choice” for many of the world’s top recording artists (including Phil Collins, The Rolling Stones, Yes) and prestigious recording studios (such as AIR Studios, Townhouse Studios, RSK, Metropolis, and Miloco, to name just a few).

Now, for the first time, this rare and sought-after analogue effects unit has been meticulously recreated and made available in the 500 Series format.

The BF-20-500 is based entirely on original designs, including use of the well renowned SAD512 bucket brigade devices, but housed in a two module wide 500 series stainless steel enclosure. It offers the same performance, flexibility and characteristics as the original, allowing for any level of flanging to be created. From subtle, gentle effects to deep flanging dominance and anywhere in between.

The BF-20-500 is an ideal creative tool for adding time-domain based effects including coloring drum rolls or providing smooth gentle sweeps over individual instruments.

Three modes of operation are available:
1. Manual - You have complete control over the degree of flanging produced and when it occurs.

  1. Envelope - Whereby a trigger is set to trigger flanging. The trigger can either be the source material itself or a separate external source via the front panel 1/4" jack.

  2. Auto - Where the BF-20-500 provides continuous flanging based on the settings of the Auto controls.
