Frequency Analyzer Model Ring Modulator Effect, made by Electro-Harmonix (1973), made in New York City, natural aluminum finish. This is a beautifully preserved early 1970s Electro-Harmonix Frequency Analyzer, one of the more obscure pieces from this infamous and extremely creative NYC-based company. In the 1970s this pedal was one of their many unique contributions to the world of effects. Citing the sonic palette of Kraftwerk, the original ad claims the pedal is able to "stretch your guitar neck up to nineteen feet!". Essentially a ring modulator with a low-pass filter, the Frequency Analyzer features three controls; shift, fine and blend. The former two let the user set a single frequency that will then be both added and subtracted from the original note or chord, and the latter blend is a mix control. The filter can be switched on or off via a dedicated switch on the back.Length is 7 in. (17.8 cm.), 5 1/2 in. (14 cm.) width, and 2 1/8 in. (5.4 cm.) deep. Cosmetically, this pedal is in very good condition overall with some light wear to the face including minor dings, dents, corroded spots and scratches, mostly towards the bottom front edge. Nearly all the stenciled lettering and graphics are intact, as are the original knobs. The sides and bottom rubber pad are clean as well; the sides are very slightly bent outwards towards the rear of the pedal. The unit comes with the original detachable AC power cable. Electrically, the pedal is all original and fully functional. It's seen our typical servicing and testing, including cleaning of all sockets, pots and jacks. Some the old foam supporting the internals had started disintegrating and was replaced. This unique and very cool effect is a cool and special piece, a must-have for techno heads!
