U-120 Pedal Control

U-120 Pedal Control module module for Eurorack / Doepfer A100 system.

This module allows you generating triggers and gates using sustain/hold keyboard pedal. It can generate ordinary gate output (while pedal is held), trigger output (settable 1/2/5ms), fixed gate length (adjustable by knob, 5ms to 8s), toggle gate (first press set gate on, second sets off and so on) and alternate two output gates at pedal press. Pedals with both polaritites can be used (some pedals are normally open, some are normaly closed).

From the top down:
knob for fixed gate length setting
fixed length gate jack output + LED (or alternate gate out A1)
button + 2 LEDs (short press for normal or alternate mode for two most top outputs, long press sets 1/2/5ms trigger, holding button for few secs sets pedal polarity, see below)
trig output jack + LED (or alternate gate out A2)
gate output jack + LED (while pedal pressed)
toggle gate output jack + LED (press sets gate on or off)
pedal input jack 6,3mm (1/4″)

In alternate mode trigger output is used as second alternate gate output (A2, see marking on the right side). In alternate mode each pedal pressing switches one of A1 or A2 outputs on and generates gate, its length is adjusted by gate width knob. It can be useful for generating start and stop gates (you can start or stop clock or sequencer by pressing pedal). Gate time as adjustable from 5ms to 8s, knob fully CW generates infinite gates (alternate mode LED is dimmed if infinite gate knob setting is reached). If alternate mode is off then trigger output works as trigger output :), trig length can be set to 1ms (LED off), 2ms (LED dimmed) or 5ms (LED on) by holding button (long press, underlined). Both alternate mode and trigger length settings are memorized.

Module is shipped with “auto polarity” set. Plug pedal before powering module and module recognizes correct polarity. Pedal with “normally open” polarity can be plugged after power-up with proper polarity.

If “normaly closed” polarity pedal should be plugged after powering module then wrong (inverted) polarity will be recognised (there is open circuit at startup so normally open pedal is supposed). To avoid this press and hold button for few seconds, bottom LED starts blinks rapidly to show “normaly closed” polarity is selected. Polarity setting is memorized (there are two options: “auto polarity” and fixed “normaly closed polarity” setting). Auto polarity is displayed at startup (or after switching polarity) by blinking both diodes alternately followed by blinking top LED (normaly open recognized) or by blinking bottom LED (normaly closed recognized). “Normally closed” polarity is displayed at startup (or after switching polarity) by blinking bottom LED only.

Width: 4TE/ 4HP/ 20mm
