12v Power Starvation for eurorack modules and busboards

Famine 1500 is a voltage-controlled power starvation module that can support 1,500mA on both the +12V and -12V power rails - enough for an entire busboard worth of modules. Famine features a true bypass Starve/Feed switch (to switch it in and out of your system instantly), standard eurorack power headers as well as 1/4" quick-connect connectors to connect to any system, and can route your power directly through to a second busboard or flying bus.

Flick the switch and everything on that bus will begin to scream out in hunger and pain.

Featuring CV control, switchable between dual control over +/- with one knob, or independent control over each.

  • Fully linear regulation (not switchmode), so no added clock ripple on voltage rails.
  • Power capacity: 1.5A each rail. *See below
  • Tested good so far: 6 hours constant load of 752mA. Heat measured at heat sinks stabilized at 176°F/80.2°C.
  • Accepts both 2x8 box connectors and 0.25"/6.35mm quick connects for power in and out.
  • Outputs from ~±10.5V down to zero.

*Tested good at 1.5A draw on each rail. Voltage droop with current ratio increases above 1A, but that's not a bad thing for starvation. Peak temperatures recorded in open air setup: 215°F/102°C, measurement taken at regulator. Max starvation output voltage at 1.5A draw: +8.5V/-9.5V.

$137 as DIY Kit
$177 as Completed Module.
