Mid-fidelity Delay

The Dub Delay is a dusty mid-fidelity revision of the older NR Delta Delay. It’s an intuitive digital delay module for repetitive exploration. It features decently bright and clean repeats from about 50mS to 300mS. After that, as the delay time increases, the sound of the repeats get increasingly washed-out and noisey, until eventually the original input signal is barely heard over the trash and digital quantization clock noise. An optional “noise cut” switch helps to tame things, and overall makes the repeats “darker” sounding. Max delay time is upwards of 2 seconds.

Feedback is capable of self-oscillation. Care was taken so that runaway feedback will not become so loud that it unpleasantly distorts the output stages (or other modules in your system). A clip light comes on when the feedback is being clamped to safe levels.

Delay time and feedback are set manually and/or by CV signal. Chorus-y and modulated delay sounds are easily created by patching a LFO (or whatever) to the TIME CV input. Or create controlled avalanches of feedback by doing the same to the FEEDBACK CV input.

The blend control goes from completely dry to completely wet. And the dry, wet, and mixed outputs are available simultaneously at the bottom of the module for use with the AUX channel of a mixer. Also, there are no capacitors in the signal path! This means that you can actually delay CV signals (gates, envelopes, etc), as well as audio signals. Take note though – the wet output is inverting. To delay CV signals in phase, use the mixed output with the blend control fully counter-clockwise.
