Holmes Modular μSAW

2HP Saw VCO

Holmes Modular μSAW is a 2HP sized TL074 and PSI powered analog saw VCO with a waveform width of 5-8v depending on the resistors selected during assembly. The design is borrowed and modified from a popular simple triangle schematic available on the internet and had a MB1S bridge rectifier added for "Either Way" power input as well as some transistors swapped out for a surface mount matched set of 3904's sitting under a 2K tempco resistor for stability. There is a DC saw and an AC saw waveform output as well as a V/O input and a Frequency Modulation Control Voltage (FM CV) input. The two front potentiometers with knobs control the VCO Frequency and the FM CV input attenuation. The two small potentiometers on the rear are for using a tiny plastic potentiometer screwdriver to tune the width of the V/O response and high end frequency of the module.

I wanted a small and simple but effective and good sounding 2HP VCO for my kit and I think I've found it. You might even slow it down enough to use as a saw shaped LFO.

These modules are built on a small run/boutique basis and will only be in stock for purchase from the original builder for a limited amount of time. You can build one yourself using the files found here on github: https://github.com/caseyjholmes/uSAW
