Blinkenlights Polygons Gate Sequencer

4 channel Euclidean-style gate sequencer

This is a Euclidean style gate sequencer offering 4 channels of gate rhythms driven by a single clock input, and a single reset input. The sequences can be created simply by pressing and rotating the central rotary encoder.

This module allows a great deal of flexibility within the Euclidean rhythms style format, or you can choose to create your own patterns beat-by-beat. With a single circle of 16 LEDs, you can sequence 4 patterns which are routed to 4 independent Gate Out jacks.

In Euclidean mode, with each press of the encoder, one more beat is added to the selected channel's pattern. The beats are spaced at equal intervals within the pattern. Where the number of beats does not fit exactly within the pattern length, slightly uneven intervals are used, which can create interesting and funky patterns. With each click of rotation of the encoder, these rhythms can be moved backwards and forwards one beat within the pattern length.

If you press and hold the encoder for one second, the LEDs light dimly to show the pattern length, and if you rotate the encoder whilst holding it down, you can set the pattern length to anything between one and sixteen beats.

The Channel Select switch toggles between each of the channels, and the uppermost LED above the gate out jack for that channel lights, to show you which channel you are editing.

The lowermost LEDs above the gate out jacks light whilst the gate is on.
