Quantoct Quad Quantizer

Four channel quantizer

The Quantoct is a four channel voltage quantizer which converts control voltages into discrete steps according to the selected scale. Each channel is completely independent but the selected scale is used across all channels. Basic 1/12 V steps are available on scale 1 and an additional 13 scales are available using the front panel switch.

The following videos, courtesy of Randy Piscione, show the quantizer in action:

Because the core of this quantizer is a PIC24 microprocessor, we can provide custom scales or you can program your own if you have the necessary hardware and development environment. A pre-programmed chip with 14 scales is available as standard.

  • 4 independent CV In to CV Out jack pairs
  • Octave shift control for +2, +1, -2, -1 octaves
  • Scales: chromatic (semi-tones), whole tones, major, major pentatonic, harmonic minor, Aolian minor, minor pentatonic, dorian, lydian, 7th, Minor 7th, 3rd, Minor 3rd, 1V steps for testing

You can use this module to:

  • Accurately align voltages sent from your keyboard or sequencers according to your chosen scale
  • Generate arpeggios with VCOs, LFOs, noise modules or looping envelope generators
  • Generate a multi-part harmony

Ideal module for use with our Synthola sequencer.

IMPORTANT NOTE

This is a PCB and Panel set only. A set of 2 high quality PCBs and 1 front panel ONLY are included. You will need to purchase your own components and build your own module. Comprehensive build instructions and BOMs are provided to help you source the components needed and we even provide links to shopping carts to simplify sourcing those components.
