Big brother PLL

PLL stands for Phase Locked Loop. In short, it is an analog synthesizer with three channels: Square Wave, Multiplier, and Divider.

The pedal operates by taking your input signal and applying a massive amount of gain to make it essentially a square wave signal.

The Preamp knob determines the amount of gain. The Trigger knob biases the gain stage to feel gated or more loose.

The square wave signal is split to the output mixer, and to the PLL chip for tone synthesis.

The Lag Time knob controls the rise and fall times of the multiplier synthesized tone. These times are set by the Loop Speed switch. The switch toggles between fast, medium, and slow presets.

The Response knob controls the time it takes to track incoming notes. With a slower response, the rise and fall effect of the multiplier signal is more dramatic.

The Loop Track knob affects how well the notes are tracked.

The rotary switches select how many levels of multiplication and division occur for the two signals.

The Phase switches flip the phase of the respective Multiply and Divide signals.

Finally, the Square Wave, Multiply and Divide signals are summed together with their own level controls. The Shape knob is a passive tone control on the summed output, and the Master knob controls the overall volume.

This pedal requires a 9V DC power supply only (not included). The DC supply should be a standard Boss style connector, center negative polarity. The current draw is approximately 20 mA.

The PLL has a true bypass switch.
