It's been already a couple years since I started my YT... I started recording with only 3 or 4 modules and now I'm starting to get to a point where I feel the setup is starting to feel complete, I will probably switch a couple modules around still and I want an analog polysynth but the case is capable of making a full song on its own...

I love how the bass came up on this one, the GStorm SH-5 dual filter has an amazing sound, to my ears it really feels like a Roland filter... I'm running through it a couple waveforms plus some sub from a nano On, then adding some multi band distortion from the Cosmotronic Cosmix to get that crunch.

Hermod is the brain sequencing all the melodic voices and a clank chaos is triggering the percussion.

Let me know what you think!

Hey everyone, a new video is up on my channel:

What I did for this one is have the 4 pads on pressure points each going out to 2 destination with the Hosa splitter cables, so i can use 4 fingers to control a lot of different parameters as a kind of macro control over the patch, modulating the kick mute, Rings decay, Bass Attack or Release times, Filter cutoff and more. This helps me to play on the Rhodes while being able to quickly turn around the modular into a different place.

The Dreadbox Disorder is also doing a bunch of work here, using the mix of the envelope follower, with high res filter and fuzz to give me that powerful lead sound out of the Rhodes

Patch Notes

Hey thanks! What was your favourite moment?

The rack from the video is pretty much this, altough it may have 1 or 2 different modules in there...

ModularGrid Rack

Something a bit more uptempo this time, I just love running a keyboard through Ears to distort a bit and then into Mimeophon, having ears envelope follower control the feedback, so whenever I play I get sustained notes if the delay time is on the shorter zones... what's your favourite moment?

you could kill two birds with one stone using passive LPGs instead of VCAs, if used for handling volume of different layers then LPG are great because you could potentially save on envelopes even, just send a trigger out of LL8 into the LPG voltage control and it should decay with a natural envelope, so you get vca + envelope in a tiny space, for example I bought a couple of takaab's LPG and they are 2hp for 2 LPGs, and it even comes with TONE control, so you can have longer or shorter decays... I've been using these since I got them and I love the sound of it.

Hi guys, just uploaded a new jam today! some melodic techno this time, and all of it without a single filter in my system yet!

I've been waiting for the CV OCD to get here to use the launchpad mk3 as a controller/sequencer... this time I only used it as a grid keyboard to play the main melody, a nice touch was using the envelope which controls the tsl wavefolder, to also open the damping on rangoon, so whenever the melody plays the bassline "swells" along with it... anyway.. hope you guys enjoy it! if you do please subscribe in YT, I'm plannin on uploading regularly...

Patch notes:
Instruo Ts-l + Eowave titan as melody
Calsynth Rangoon as main bassline
Erica Pico Drums as kickdrum
Dreadbox Splash as reverb
Mutable Instruments Stages as envelope generator and LFO
Doboz XIIO as arpeggiator and note controller.
Robaux LL8 as gate sequencer
Super Vcas as vca.
Synthrotek MIXIV as mixer
Music Thing Startup as mixer and clock generator.
Novation Launchpad mk3 + CV OCD as controller

Hey guys! Thanks for the comments! If you want to subscribe over on YouTube I will be trying to upload regularly :)

The patch notes are also really interesting. I need to document my setups better, and your descriptions style should work quite well. I started actually documenting ins and outs of the modules but that's way to tedious.
-- zuggamasta

Yes, I was planning on documenting all the connections but my laziness won over me.. hehe I just thought that doing a quick rundown of what each module was doing would be enough.

Hi Brunomolteni,

Great track and nice video you got there! I loved that sudden change at 1:17, nice surprise :-)

Oh wow, that sound between 5:55 and 5:58, so fantastic sound, I love that! He, he, and the ending of your track is massive!!!
-- GarfieldModular

Thanks Garfield! Yes those sudden changes are hard to pull ( and a bit of a nerve wrack when recording) but when they work they really work hehe.

That moment at 5:55 is basically quickly muting the drums while at the same time triggering a fill on both the gates that trigger rings strum and the note changes on the XIIO arp, which is set to a c minor blues scale with up&down direction, basically results in quick melodic lines that contrast to the rest of the song where is mainly repeating the same note with slower triggers...

A bit of techno done with Rings ( Rangoon ) as the bassline, Ts-L as kick and Pico drums as Hats... Played around a bunch with LL8 performance view ( rolls and mutes ) and also used Dreadbox Splash frequently, making the bassline fully wet to create tension and release it by switching it to fully dry. Stages as a step sequencer moves Rings damping around to create the variation between long and short notes.

hope you guys enjoy!

Patch notes:
Instruo Ts-l as kickdrum
Calsynth Rangoon as main bassline
Erica Pico Drums as high hats
Dreadbox Splash as reverb
Mutable Instruments Stages as envelope generator and step sequencer

thanks guys! yeah the Ts-l was one of the first ones I got... it's really powerful for the hp it takes... and the stages panel is from magpie panels, one of the best :)

ModularGrid Rack
here is what I'm planning towards... I change some modules almost every day but the main idea is there already, having a "harmony" voice, a "melody" voice and a "bassline" voice plus some drums/perc, some fx, a mixer and stuff to control everything :)

Here's the video, open to hearing what you guys think :)
