Im making Dark ambient.

i have a Synth tech E352 and love it,im currently on the lookout for another Drone module that will compliment the E352.

i got recommended this one

also one thing i would like to be able to do,is have the eurorack system be performance based,any tips on modules for that?

Yup that is what I have tried to do in my setups for easier workflow- voices/filters/vca top row and tools/lfos bottom row.

I am so glad that I paid attention to the sage of experienced modular folks here like Lugia and Jim and bought support modules like Kinks/Links so powerful in complex patches. I have a Doepfer sequential switch and clock on the way to improve my setups. Then a matrix mixer and more tools like more attenuators and sequencer in rack future once budget allows. I found that I can use the support modules to make one voice sound so amazing and rich.

Dark Ambient? Maybe consider Desmodus Versio instead of a clouds clone. Lots of potential there.

im seeing opinionsabout the matrix mixer from AI synthesis,specially if its to small or crammed to use?

ordered a hermod,but havent had time to use it yet

sounds interesting,regarding matrix mixers,been watching some youtube videos,but abit unclear what brands to look into for those,my first thought is something not to expensive

I think the sound of clouds is obvious if you use it in obvious ways - particularly running rings through it!!
also lots of people use it as an end of chain reverb
more interestingly you could load something into the buffer and use it as a vco!!

also have done some rearranging(the case im using is a tiptop audio Mantis actually thinking about getting another mantis,so i will have 4 rows

also think the varigate 8+ looks really interesting

Doepfer has some basic patchs examples. If you look at the minimal patch, you will replace the A-190-3 by one track of your SQ-1, the A-110-2 VCO by your E352, the A-130 VCA by one channel of the Tallin or the Quad VCA and the A-140 Env by Contour, Maths or Zadar. If you use Math, plug the gate of the sq-1 in channel 4 trigger and Channel 4 out to the vca CV input. Play with rise and fall to shape the envelope.

Right now my plan is to record my Modular into Reaper,it works great,BUT if i want to record from Modular into Reaper at a certain BPM,What Modules do i need for that?is Pamelas new Workout enough?

Here's an example of how you could patch it up, just for extra explicitness. (I've got an e352 and a Maths in my rack as well. don't mind all the other crap.)

Adding delay and reverb in post will liven it up a lot. (incidentally, it's not "TV", it's "1V/OCT", cuz a difference of 1 volt CV creates a pitch of one octave.)

Another idea would be to play around putting the e352 into the inputs of the maths to allow it to work as a pseudo lowpass filter.

im in the middle of building a eurorack system for ambient/Dark Ambient style.

right now i have chosen as a sequencer the korg sq-1 so i can get to start knowing the different modules i have sofar.

the main sound source in the rack right now is the Synthesis Technology E352,i would like to connect the korg sq-1 into that,and then do the modulation stuff with Maths.

but i cant really get the korg to "control" or "play2 The E352.

any tips on how to connect this up?

One simple idea: SQ-1 slowly into 352 pitch, have the Maths controlling two of CV X, Y, or Z, in cycle mode on both sides, but with each function out stacked into an attenuverter/offset that then feeds back into the other, so that they can slowly respond to and control each other.

i am slowly building my rack .my goal is to use it for Ambient/Dark Ambient.

right now i slowly have started experimenting with the modules i have so far

Maths
and the Korg sq-1

was wondering if anyone could give me some starter tips with connecting these 3,to get me on the right track.

decided to get the sq-1 as a starting point to get to know the modules,i can always upgrade

The Varigate 4+ is a cool sequencer for a small rack because it has options for 4 gates, 4 CVs, or 2 gates/2 CVs, and you could always add a Voltage Block later for 8 16-step CV sequences.

I think you're actually in pretty good shape for VCAs (six VCAs for a system of this size seems fine). What you may find, though, is that you need more sound sources... unless you count filters self-oscillating, you only have one oscillator here. You don't need to add a second source immediately, but it should probably be high on your list for next steps.

You're in good shape for most other things, I think, but one thing I always like to suggest is Sloths. It would go very well here.

Finally, how are you controlling/sequencing this? MIDI? If not, then you might want some sort of sequencer module.

i have a old korg monotron delay laying around that i dont really use,is it possible to be able to use it as a delay effect with eurorack(without to much effort???)

on vacation right now so cant try out untill friday.

i want to record my modular into my Daw(Reaper) for my soundcard i use a presonus studio live 16.0.2,in my modular i have a Ladik M-171 Pannable Mixer,can i just connect cables from the M-171 into channels on the studiolive,choose those channels in Reaper and then record??

im looking for 1 maybe 2 buffered mult modules.whats the best value for money out there??

You could make the most of modulation sources with a DPW Design AV-1, your two inputs can be attenuverted, there is also a SUM output and a A>B output so lots of options for screwing around with your CV signals to create more. You can even throw a couple of gate sources at it and get a new sequence based on the two input.
That HN 3xMIA does look tempting though ;-)
